Even though polygamy is legal in Kenya, there are barely any stories of co-wives getting along and living together peacefully. Maureen and Sarah, both married to Abraham, however, shocked Kenyans after their story went viral. The two ladies who reside in Juja disclosed that they do everything together and have lived this way for nearly one-and-a-half years!
During an interview with Metha Ya Kagoni, Maureen, the second wife, stated that she started seeing Abraham after meeting severally for business. During this time, she was not aware that Abraham was married. Sarah, who has been married to Abraham for 8 years, had no knowledge of the affair either.
Abraham got into a serious relationship with Maureen, which took a short break after Sarah gave birth to their third child. When Maureen confronted Abraham, he denied being married.
“I told him we break up, but then we got back together again. At this point, I would tell him to spend time with his wife at home. I also got pregnant.” Maureen told Metha Ya Kagoni. At this time, Sarah suspected her husband was cheating but he claimed Maureen was just a business associate.
The two ladies first spoke when Maureen called Sarah regarding her (Maureen) newborn’s sickness. “…so she picked up the phone and said, ‘Maureen, finally’…”
The co-wives met when Abraham introduced them to each other and decided to share a home after their husband said he will only drive to one home after work. Sarah and Maureen also agreed that they reached this decision without any influence from Abraham. They saw it as a way for their kids to bond and live happily as one big family.
