An acute condom shortage has hit Naivasha town as rally lovers continue trooping into the popular vacation destination to witness the ongoing World Safari Rally championships.
According to majority of the revelers who were interviewed by Made In Ke crew, the rally lovers lamented that the there was total lack of the essential commodity and those available were being sold at exorbitant prices.
‘I spent better part of this evening looking for a packet of condom, unfortunately I couldn’t find any in the local outlets, I was forced to pay for Kes. 350 for a packet of Trust condom, and this usually retails at Kes.50 bob,’ Complained one of the revelers.
However, some of the Non-governmental organizations and government agencies have promised to restore the shortage as as soon as possible.
The Safari Rally being held in Kenya and It was first held from 27 May to 1 June 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari in Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika, as a celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The return of the World Rally Championship to Kenya and Africa comes 19 years after being removed from the calendar due to a lack of finance
Already the Hotels and accommodation in the lake side city is fully booked and over ten thousand people are expected to participate in the event.
